Beginning with our March 8, 2008 meeting, we have a wonderful new home at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 11555 National Blvd. (corner of Federal and National) in West LA, near the intersection of the 405 and 10 freeways. Our new location is just a short drive to at least SIX yarn shops, large discount stores, restaurants and within walking distance of Starbucks, Robek's Juice, Champagne Bakery, Whole Foods and other shops.

Compatto Yarn Salon is kindly offering Sand and Sea Knitting Guild members a 10% discount on all merchandise purchased through the end of 2008. To obtain the discount, simply show your Guild membership card when paying for your purchases.  Discount does not apply to sale merchandise, classes or on line sales. Compatto is located at 2112 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica (between 21st & 22nd ST) with parking off of 21st Street, behind their building.

 GUILD MEETING -- MAY 10

PROGRAM

Kiyoko Tatsui will coordinate a "yarn tasting".  There is no homework, but bring size 6, 7 or 8 needles to the meeting.

REFRESHMENTS

No refreshments will be served at the May meeting.  Instead, the local Boy Scout Troop will be

selling refreshments at the church's "meet the neighbors" fair being held on the church grounds.

CANDACE EISNER STRICK WORKSHOP - MAY 17-18, 2008

Candace Eisner Strick, author of six books on knitting and quilting, will teach 3 workshops on May 17 and 18.  On May 17, she will teach a 6-hour workshop on STRICKMUSTER, the beautiful twisted stitch patterns of Austria.  On May 18 she will teach two 3-hour workshops on 10 THINGS YOUR MOTHER NEVER TOLD YOU (a tips/tricks class) and BEADED BORDERS. 2008 STITCH 'N PITCH

On Monday, June 2, join hundreds of your fellow knitters (and crocheter's!) for an evening of Dodger's baseball, Dodger Dogs and beer, and stitching in the stands.  The third annual STITCH 'N PITCH is a joint promotion between Major League Baseball and the National Needle Arts Association, the trade groups for their respective industries.  This is a really fun event that many SSKG members have attended for the last 2 years and look forward to as the beginning of Summer Knitting.  Bring a spouse, child or buddy, your knitting and join us in a special reserved section of the stands at Dodger Stadium to watch the Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies. PIC KNIT - SUNDAY, JUNE 22

The Guild is holding its annual outdoors summer knitting event, a PIC KNIT, at Cookie W's lovely home in Ojai on Sunday, June 22.  The day will begin at 11:30 with lots of fun knitting games and contests with marvelous prizes!  Just bring your knitting -- lunch will be provided.  Carpools are encouraged and there will be further information for carpool signups at the May and June Guild meetings as well as via the e-mail list-serve and the June newsletter.  Starting time is 11:30 a.m. This is to give you time to drive to Ojai. Just bring your knitting this year. Lunch is still being arranged. Further details will be sent to you by e-mail or will be in the June newsletter.
In addition, Lois Varga, owner of Anacapa Yarn Company in Ventura, is extending her 3rd Annual Sale, to Sunday, June 22nd and will be opening the shop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. which will give you an opportunity to stop there before or after the Picknit.
